East Anglia outfit Amethysts have put their own stamp on honeymoon celebrations by releasing new single ‘Pressure Makes Diamonds’. It’s not all the uncommon to hear of married couples making music together, with names like Flora Cash and Vivii coming to mind, but what we especially love about this newly-wed pair is that they have decided the best way to enjoy those fresh wedding feels is with some gorgeous indie-electronica. ‘Pressure Makes Diamonds’ is a welcome mix of dream-pop melodies and dance patterns, carefully constructed by the pair who see music as a form of healing. The whole atmosphere is one of bliss and self-assurarity, which comes down to the song’s central tenant, as expressed by Amethysts: “When you become a diamond, you’ll see why life had pressure on you; you wouldn’t be a diamond without having been through all the rough.” We also love the visuals for ‘Pressure Makes Diamonds’ through which we get to witness the band’s dynamic performance style while being soaked in shades of therapeutic purple. - Hannah Thacker
